Why a beach club is named for a goddess

The owl, the Greek key, Olympus and the line on the wall — the story behind the name.

Athena was the Greek goddess of wisdom. On a Lagos beach, wisdom looks a lot like knowing when to slow down — which is the whole idea of the place.

The owl

The owl was Athena's bird, the sign of someone who sees clearly. On the emblem it sits above her face, the two merging into one.

The Greek key

Around them runs the meander: a single line that turns and turns again without breaking. You will find it at the foot of every page of this site.

In the myths the gods lived on Mount Olympus. Here, Olympus is the building by the pool. And on the wall above the water is the line the whole beach lives by: even gods do chill.
